Why do we name our school Bamboo?

We believe in the strength and growth potential of every child, just as young bamboo grows so strong. When bamboo shoots are small it is not so easy to recognize their potential, however when given the opportunity to grow at the right time their strength can be enormous. This is why we have named our school 'BAMBOO' as we can see your child's promising future and as a team we will do our best to achieve this.

Logo Rationale

A house depicts a home or a natural environment for the child to be one where everything is suitable for his age and growth, where possible obstacles to his development are removed, and where he is provided with the means to exercise his growing faculties.

Six children from different continents shows that we want to provide the best education possible to all children, regardless of their racial background.

’Bamboo’ reflects the plant bamboo in many ways. Some of the characteristics of bamboo are: It is strong but flexible, It bends without breaking and it is committed to continuous growth. These characteristics are attitudes that we hope your children will learn for a happy and successful life.

Vision
Message from founder

Message from founder

One of my most compelling reasons for founding Bamboo International School was my love and concern for my own children’s education. Through them, I realized that all Cambodian children deserve an international standard education to lift them on to a better society in the future. This wish was the inspiration for my unrelenting pursuit for excellence in Cambodian education.

Since I was very young, I have been interested in education and technology. I obtained my bachelors degree of Art in English and Computer Science. As a father, I learned about the importance of educating children and helping them reaches their fullest potential. With the love of my children and nation, Bamboo is never foremost about profit but one goal and passion : bring quality education to Cambodia, with international standards. We strive to decrease the school fees to the minimum it can to allow average-income parents to send their children to a school like Bamboo.

After researching and comparing various early childhood education methods, I realized that the Montessori Method is a highly respected and established teaching one used to empower thousands of children all over the world. I then decided that was what I wanted for Bamboo International School. Bamboo is created to meet the Montessori standards and curriculum from North American from academic staff, curriculum, learning materials, facilities and environment.

My team and I aspire to nurture your child’s social, intellectual, emotional, physical, and cultural development to prepare them for a life of learning and equip them with skills such as adaptation and resilience to the ever changing environment that awaits them. We welcome you to visit the wonderful and warm facilities of our school, to have a better understanding of our curriculum. We look forward to meeting you and your children.

Why choose us
Message from principal

Message from principal

I am pleased to have been selected as the principal of Bamboo International School and look forward to an exciting year as we strive to foster a culture of learning. I’m delighted to be working with such an exceptional group of students, families, and staff members.

You may be surprised at what an intensive learning program Kindergarten has become. Our goal is for every student to reach his or her potential by building a strong academic foundation. A student’s academic success is based on a nurturing class environment and parental involvement.

In order to achieve these things, I have included several ways that family members of our school community can work together with Bamboo staff: • Please send your child to school every day on time. • Make sure your child gets at least eight hours sleep each night. • Keep in touch with your child’s teacher via email, telephone, notes or letters – there is space for this on the communication report. • Attend school-wide events and conferences. • Celebrate your child’s success (giving verbal praise), no matter how small it may seem. This will keep your child enthusiastic about learning and proud of their work.

The Montessori Method focuses on allowing a child to use a ‘hands-on ‘experience, where the child can learn about letters, sounds, numbers and so much more. They discover learning through interaction with each other and develop character, good manners and courteous behavior.

We also use the Finger Print ESL program to round out the children’s complete learning experience. Our future plan is to continue providing quality education along with a dual curriculum of International and Khmer, with standards from the United States CCSS. We have a wonderful new computer suite which will enable older students to use technology and digital media to enhance their learning.

I will still be teaching in the toddler class for the mornings, however if you would like to contact me, my email address is joffandvic@hotmail.com or you can reach me by phone at the school.

Sincerely,
Victoria Davey
